"Walsall Lions and Aldridge and District Lions Clubs joined forces to assist 4 year old Lucas Hillier, when his mum and dad approached the Aidis Trust a specialist charity that recommends technology to assist people with disabilities.
Aldis Trust recommended an ipad and specialist software for Lucas and Aldridge & Walsall Lions Clubs split the cost between them. Aidis Trust then sourced the hardware and software.
On Thursday 2nd February 2012, Lucas was presented with his new kit by Lion President John Butler from Aldridge Lions and Lion President Gary Porter of Walsall Club.
Lucas's Mum and Dad are going to keep the 'Lions' informed and have put the Aldridge
Fayre in their diary, so that they can update us all on his progress. Well done Lucas!"
Below Lucas Hillier receives special software and an ipad to help him with his disabilities.
Hard Work Rewarded
As we have reported previously the 2011 Santa Float produced a
bumper crop of donations from the public, but this would not have been possible without
the assistance of the 6th Walsall Scout Group and especially Scout Leader Nigel Thompson
towing the float at each outing. Walsall Lions Club was very pleased to donate a
cheque for £400 to the Group at their meeting on Tuesday 7th February 2012. The Group
which meet at their Headquarters in Delves Green Road in Walsall are currently raising
funds for improvements to their HQ including insulation (much needed in the current
icy snap!) Good Luck to 6th Walsall Scouts !!
